British No. 77WP, Cutaway View:   SOLD

6X8", Acrylic on Canvas, July 2002.

The innards of a WW2 white phosphorous grenade fitted with an 'all-ways' impact fuze. ("All-ways" implies that it will detonate on 'all ways' of impact.) When the grenade lands it ruptures the tin plate case, and the phosphorous ignites on contact with the air. It creates a cloud of smoke and the phosphorous burns for about a minute.
