Tobacco Tin and Racket Grenade, 1915-World War 1: SOLD!!!
(in a private collection)
6X12", Acrylic on Canvas, October 2002.
In the trenches, soldiers invented all kinds of ways to make grenades. This one is a racket with a metal tin strapped to it, and filled with nails and explosives. The user lights the fuze and throws the racket into the enemy trench and it throws splinters and metal fragments all over.
