The USA on this 'rifle' grenade is an abbreviation for the phrase "Here is Our Work" in Yiddish. The Hagana or Jewish military defense council in Palestine was fighting for the creation of a Jewish state, and needed to hide the fact that they were actually producing weapons for themselves. The initials USA would imply the weapons were made and supplied by the United States, and because Britain was a US ally, they would be hesitant to accuse them of arming their enemies.
